Our commitment

The Burgundy is committed to making our website, our booking process, and our physical property usable by the widest possible audience — including guests with visual, auditory, cognitive, motor, or neurological differences. We believe that being a good innkeeper starts with not putting barriers between you and a great stay.

Conformance target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance means our site has been built and tested against the WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria.

What we have done so far

• Used semantic HTML elements (main, nav, header, footer, headings in logical order) on every page.
• Provided a "Skip to content" link as the first focusable element on each page.
• Designed visible keyboard focus indicators on all interactive elements.
• Written meaningful alt text for content images and marked decorative images as such.
• Honored the prefers-reduced-motion system preference to neutralize animation for users who request it.
• Set color contrast ratios to meet WCAG AA on body text.
• Built forms with explicit labels and clear error feedback.
• Added aria-expanded and aria-controls to the mobile menu toggle.

Known limitations

As of the effective date above, we are aware of the following accessibility gaps and are actively working to fix them:

• The booking widget on our homepage is provided by our reservation partner, Cloudbeds. While we have asked Cloudbeds about their accessibility conformance, we cannot independently guarantee it. If you encounter a problem booking, please call us at +1 (858) 799-0213 and we will take your reservation over the phone.
• Some of our older photography on inner pages may not yet have descriptive alt text. We are auditing and replacing as we go.
• Our Google Maps embed on the Contact page is a third-party iframe. Maps' own accessibility features apply.
• Decorative SVGs across the site are being audited to ensure they are correctly marked aria-hidden.

Assistive technology compatibility

We test against current versions of:

• NVDA (Windows) with Firefox and Chrome.
• VoiceOver (macOS & iOS) with Safari.
• TalkBack (Android) with Chrome.
• Keyboard-only navigation.

Property accessibility

The Burgundy is a historic 1970s lodge. While we work hard to accommodate every guest, certain rooms and outdoor spaces have steps, narrow doorways, or other features that may not meet modern ADA standards. If you have specific accessibility needs, please call us at +1 (858) 799-0213 before you book so we can match you to the room that will work best for you.
